Praise for MHS Tribute Video

City Living, the student documentary that dazzled Thursday’s Stephen B. Wiley Tribute Gala, is “not a nowadays film,” according to its executive producer, Shannon Kikuchi.

The Morristown High School junior said the 18-minute video purposely takes its time telling the story of civic icon Steve Wiley, MHS Class of ’48.

June 8th Coffeehouse will be outdoors!

Friday night’s coffeehouse was really well attended (about 140 kids…we ran out of food quickly). The students are planning the next (and last of the school year) coffeehouse to be outside. With this fun venue as well as its being so close to the end of the year, we expect another really good turnout for the June 8th coffeehouse.

Big turnout means BIG FOOD. We already plan to double our usual purchases of wings and subs. But we’ll need more snacks and water bottle contributions. Big turnout also means a few extra parent helpers. Communicating this need is where We’d like to ask your help!
Donors can drop off food/water bottles at Liz Burney’s house a day or two or three before 6/8.  You may contact Liz via email, burtendor@gmail.com.

Mark your calendar for “Aqua Dance” as the production will showcase our diversity and extraordinarily talented students from Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical Indian dances, along with 3 Pianist, and singers.

The MHS Dance club and musicians have been working diligently all year to make this year’s production another memorable one. Some of our premier dance performers showcasing their works are Diandra Marks, Mckenzie Genthe, Jordan Pohle, Emily Seligman, Katy Beyer,Lindsay Grant, Charmi Trevedi & Nevi Shah.

Aqua Dance is venturing into facets of water & dance filmed on location in the MHS Pool.  Our underwater team and photographers Jessica Richardson and Leah Knappertz are venturing into a new realm of capturing the beauty and essence of water and movement in real life settings. This will truly be a graphic wonder to experience.

The show, running about an hour and a half, will open on the main stage of the MHS Theater with a free show on April 25th, at 4:00 pm and  a ticketed show Saturday evening on April 28th, 7:00 pm. Admission for the Saturday show will be $10.00. We will be serving refreshments at intermission.

All Proceeds support the student Senior Awards in the category of “Visual & Performing Arts”, for students who qualify and have actively contributed their talents during their four years at Morristown High School. Your gifts and funds, however great or small, keep our students’ work alive through dance, music, theatre and visual arts at MHS. Cathy Wong’s Research qualifies for Intel ISEF

Cathy Wong has been nominated to go to Pittsburgh from May 13-18 for the Intel ISEF competition for her research project. She is making a medical device by adapting cell phone technology that will allow doctors to listen to heartbeats and take EKG data remotely.  This would potentially have application in Africa where people shy away from medical facilities due to their lack of hygiene.  About 1500 students globally make it this far in the competition.  Congratulations and good luck to Cathy and her teachers, Mrs. Colfax and Mr. Danese.
