Department of Guidance & Counseling Services

The primary focus of the school counseling program is to promote and enhance student learning for all students through Academic Development, Personal/Social and College/Career Development counseling.


Academic Development Counseling

Counselors will work in a collaborative approach to support the student learning process and promote academic achievement with consideration of student ability and learning style. Counselors will regularly monitor their students' courses and accumulation of credits to ensure that they are meeting the graduation requirements of Morristown High School and The NJ State Department of Education.

Guidance Information

  • Counseling Communications: We have been very careful in developing a communication system that is both effective and efficient. The following link lays out the coomunication hierarchy the MHS Guidance Department will follow for the listed correspondences. View the PDF>>
  • TCCi/Naviance is a web based program that provides college search tools, record keeping capabilities and communication between the Department of Counseling and Guidance Services and students/parents/guardians. In order to access this program, parents must have the registration code that was sent home to them by our department.
    To register, parents can follow the instructions after entering their registration code under “New User.” Students will be registered on Naviance by their counselors when they meet for their individual conference in the fall. If you (parents/guardians) have misplaced the registration code, please contact our office. We hope that you will utilize this resource as it provides both students and parents with a plethora of resources for career/college decision making and planning. Go to the Naviance website >>
  • Planning Timelines: The MHS Guidance Department has laid out a planning timeline for the last five years of each student's high school years. The timelines are guides for parents and students to follow in thier quest for post-secondary choices. Go to the Planning Section >>
